Photography is an inner search for self through the outer world. In this workshop, we’ll use street photography as a portal into two things: learning how to see, and learning who we are as an artist/photographer.
Over four sessions, we’ll play with light, form, rhythm. We’ll improvise, dance with shadows, make a lot of mistakes. We’ll let go of concepts and labels, and I’ll try to make you forget everything you know about what photography should be.
We’ll lean into our intuition. We’ll travel into the dreamworld. We’ll allow ourselves to be surprised.
We'll also head out into the streets together where the theatre of life is. That's where we will mostly work and create and begin to understand ourselves as a human and as a photographer.
By the end of the workshop, through street photography sessions, group sharing, presentations, group editing, and journaling/writing prompts, we would have explored together and learned more about color, editing, photo selection, intuitive shooting, improvisation, visual perception, and more. In the end, I hope the workshop will empower and give you the push to be the artist/photographer you already are and to gain the confidence to make work that belongs to you.
Finally, the workshop will culminate in a public sharing event where we’ll get to share the work we created.
Can't wait to make some visual poetry together. It's gonna be fun!

FAQ
What camera should I bring for the workshop?
Any camera that has an automatic function would work for this workshop. Even a phone camera would be suitable. The focus will not be on the technicalities of using a camera in this workshop but more on creating fresh and inspired work.
Will there be assignments?
Yes, there will be “assignments”, but they are more like prompts. They will help provide a container within which you can create freely and energetically.
Can a total beginner join?
Photographers of all levels can join. The workshop is less about technical ability and more about learning how to see intuitively and creatively.
